    No but on a slight tangent I did see a seller on Etsy who was offering a copy of the Snakehead bridge which looked even more primitive than an actual Tele bridge

    I've never seen the point in them really apart from using them as ashtrays rather than the top of the amp but I've never been a smoker anyway. Doesn't it make it harder to palm mute with it in-situ?

    It is purely for decoration when not being played, as you say utterly pointless….

    I genuinely didn't know that. Explains why the 3 sided bridge always looks unfinished on a tele.

    I meant in my case it is purely for decoration, I guess a few folk played with the cover on back in the day, prob not many
