Electro acoustic easy playing good sound for cheap money - your recommendations please
What's Hot
Just back form the pub with a pal. The neck on his old cheap Yamaha electro acoustic is not repairable (warped over years after decades of abuse). sort of OK for cowboy chords but up the neck it's a problem at the join with fixed the body getting worse that truss rod adjustments can't fix. It's not worth anything so repairs not really sensible.
He asked me what he should do. I said a buy a new one "there's loads of cheap good ones buy used to keep the family cash flow steady". He likes relatively slim body and single cutaway and the playing experience essentially electric in terms of playing action and plugging in. Nothing too complicated.
I reckon he has about 300 or so for used electro acoustic. Any ideas from experience?

Might get lucky and blag one of the lower end Faith models as well. They're not hugely slim, but I've never seen one that wasn't easy to play.
I know people who get acceptable plugged-in results with Tanglewood which would be even cheaper but I'm not conscious of having heard them acoustically.
Tanglewood
and possibly Vintage
but for every recommendation, there'll be a counter/negative and something else
just because you do, doesn't mean you should.
My pal is following this thread (though he's not a member of the forum). I'll PM you if he follows up.
