    If you're struggling to find one, the Tech 21 VT bass will get you 90% there. Mostly stopped using the rusty after I got a mad tb50 on steroids preamp. I was only using it when sharing a backline but forgot it one day and ended up using the vt bass. Was able to get pretty close to the rusty sound, so sold it. And that's my boring story about the vt bass/rusty box common ground.

    Thanks @freemeat that is a interesting experience.  I have been lazy and not gone through my 'pre amp cupboard' auditioning them. I am now going to do that.
