Recommend me a gig bag / soft case

Looking for a good quality, robust gig bag or soft case for an OM sized guitar. Must have shoulder straps so that I can cycle with it, and a large pocket for cables and other stuff. Any recommendations?

  • I use a Mono M80 Dual Acoustic/Electric for my J-35 and an electric. Great, but not cheap. If Mono sells an OM compatible gig bag, that would be my choice.

The Monos are very good - not only shoulder straps but a click-locking strap across your chest as well which makes it fit more tightly and stops any possibility of the shoulder straps slipping off - not all other bags have these. They definitely do an OM/classical size in the standard M80 range, I'm not sure about the Vertigo. The M80 has more pockets, although the big one isn't as big (but slightly deeper) than the one single pocket on the Vertigo. Of the two I'd probably get the M80 for what you need.

I can't give you a gig bag recommendation  but can't it be a hardcase?

You can buy a back-mount harness. Just a thought.

  • If you want to go super-cheap these are pretty good. I've got two and when I see others it always seems to be someone with relatively high standards.

For cycling the gig bag definitely needs to protect your guitar if you take a tumble, which rules out all the cheaper types. The Mono gig bags are very good but I can also thoroughly recommend Protection Racket:

This is their 7153-00 Deluxe model for acoustic guitars with a lower bout width up to 16” which should be ideal for your OM (my OM is 15-1/2”):

They provide internal measurements for you to check
