In superb, virtually new condition. No actual fret wear – the marks you see on the first couple of frets are just an indication that strings have passed over them.. No dings, no scratches.

Built to EJ's specs. Quarter sawn straight grained maple. Tinted nitro lacquer finish. 12” radius. 21 medium jumbo frets. Soft “V” neck, progressing to “C” higher up, staggered tuners, so no string tree, 42mm (1.65”) nut.

One of two most comfortable necks I've ever played (other was my old LSL Saticoy), but I just can't get used to the flatter radius.

I love the rest of the EJ body and electronics, so am getting fixed up with a MusiKraft 9.5” radius board.

This is easily CS quality – check online reviews. Will make the perfect centrepiece for a project build or upgrade.

£445 £425 delivered UK mainland. Payment by bank transfer, please - have had issues with PayPal.

I'll be honest, if it was me I'd sling it in the loft just in case I wanted to flog the guitar somewhere down the line.

  • I've got one of these on my MJT and they're great. I came from playing LPs exclusively so it felt pretty natural.

  • It's interesting that the Eric Johnson Stratocaster neck is 21 frets. He played Manhattan in Eb (the highest note is on the 21st fret of the 1st string)

So much easier to play it on a 22 fret neck in E - what an amazing guitarist.

  • That neck is just beautiful - quarter sawn and even grain - always wanted a neck like that...  I've got old Strats that are nothing like that - 1 in a 10000 or every bloody EJ  - I'd be tempted to have a radius put on it... you'd not lose much adjustment on the edges.. and you'd still have the original neck I'm madly thinking whether one of my strats "needs it"

I remember reading in GP that Manhattan was played on his es335?
