The Mr Black is one of the best compact spring pedals I've had and I've been through most of them! Only moving it on cos I've settled on a Milkman F Stop - for now.

If you're serious about spring reverb, I'd be willing to part with my Valvetrain Spring Thing for £350.

It's a proper outboard 6G15 type thing with all the associated faff - it's a touch noisy at high settings and it cuts the volume a bit, although I've found you can address this a bit with higher gain tubes. Doesn't have a tone control.

But, and I say this without reservation, if you want that sound, it has it. More so, perhaps, than the SurfyBear Metal I've also got. But two massive impractical units seems a bit much for me!
