J-160e and similar acoustics w/ P90s

Interested in these from a construction/sound POV rather than because I'm after one.

The consensus seems to be that they sound great plugged in, but they're unavoidably and seriously compromised as acoustics.

Is the plugged-in sound such that nothing else will do if that's what you're after, or can you get close enough with one of the umpteen soundhole pickups/non-invasive mounting systems now available?
