The new Fender Paramount dreadnought - PD220E

Just been having a peruse of this new dreadnought from the Fender camp.

£649 although there's one being offered for £569 as a pre-order on one site. Solid sitka/mahogany (or mahogany/mahogany) square-shouldered dreadnought with bone nut and saddle. More ornate than the recent Gibson Generation range. Interesting purfling and rosette. Looks like a black and white headband with coloured feathers in to my eye. Nice. Martinoid fretboard markers. Bound fingerboard. Nice tidy headstock with inlays.

Back very pretty with strip purfling and a colourful central strip. Nut width 1.69" some may not like c.f. 1 3/4".

Very nice looking instrument.  Continues trend for acoustics to have electrics. Wish there was option to untick these. OM, Parlour available. Oh, and resonator!

Well done Fender and Gibson for throwing more yummy stuff our way.

This guitar a cheaper intro to the D28, D18, FG5 world and a competitor for FG800 series from Yamaha I would think.

It's pretty - it looks to have the more slender pre-war Martin type of outline as opposed to the slightly tubbier later one.

Strap button on the rim displeases mine eye though....even though I know it's fine assuming it's properly reinforced it always looks like a bodge to me.

hadnt noticed that - one would assume then,  that there is some kind of reinforcement block inside  ?!?!

Assume so. Lyle Lovett made Bill Collings do that to all his custom made Collings dreads  :#
