    Might be too below budget, but there’s a guy on ebay called ‘websmurfer’ who makes some nice, cheap clones.  I have his germanium fuzz face and it cleans up nicely (note this is my first and only fuzz so not much to compare to!)

    Sorry is that essentially a germ fuzz face. Can get them pretty cheap.

    The websmurfer is likely to be silicon, he makes some nice pcb boards if you want to build your own

    Yeah I saw those earlier today, I was a bit put off by the low price, if that makes sense! So used to seeing boutique hand made pedals going for hundreds, its weird when someone is bulding/selling for under 30 quid. Good to have your feedback though, I'll keep it in mind.

    The Pedal Pawn is silicon, which kind of flies in the face of the view that germ fuzzes clean up better as people are buying it because it cleans up so well.  The pedal demoed in the video in my thread I linked to *is* a germ one though.

    Websmurfer builds both I think

    Actually Otalgia makes a good circuit. It's quite a simple fuzz face.

    The parts on fuzz faces are not expensive as such. (Although some Germanium Transistors can be)
    It's quite a simple circuit but can take a bit of time to make them work well.
    The enclosure is probably about 8 to 10 of that cost. So I have no idea how he makes money, but he is a great seller of some great PCBs. So I am sure the pedals are fine
