lazy j anyone?

mattacjonesmattacjones Frets: 472
I know various people looking out for there - this just popped up on coda

s/h Lazy J 20 reverb…£1799
Great sounding 20w Lazy J, built in the UK. These amps have a well-deserved reputation for being very nice indeed.
Good condition,a few surface scuffs in the lacquered tweed on the bottom and side…. with reverb, built in attenuator and mid boost. Made in 2012

Not mine (I wish)

" a well-deserved reputation for being very nice indeed".
Wow! They've really gone to town on the hyperbole.

£500+ quid saving over a new one but you get the great tremolo on new... no mid boost though..

not overly outrageous and you dont have to wait 6 mths like me....

    :(

An £1800 amp is hard to describe as a bargain, but the J20 is better than most little amps you'll try. And the trem is the least exciting feature of the amp - I never use mine really (not that it's not good) - so someone should snap this up.

Are they that expensive now? I thought the basic amp was around 1350 + 250 odd for reverb and attenuators.

Yes, I think they probably are - last year it was £1620 for basic + £330 reverb + £210 trem. Not sure if 2014 prices are higher, but likely.

....by the way, unless things have changed, I think the mid-boost is a push/pull on the tone control on all J20s.

Mine is only a few weeks old and it has the mid boost.

  • So, if they're £1620 + £330 for reverb... I'd rather get a new one, despite the wait.  £1799 for a second hand one sounds a bit steep.

Me too probably, but jumping the queue is going to appeal to someone.

You get it now instead of 6 months. Thats worth a lot of money to some people. My Wienbrocks had a few months wait. Id of paid for it to be quicker
