Have you tried the Wish version? Or is this a big no no? Just interesting seeing videos show how close the wish copy is to the real thing.

@johnmontana the wish version is a clone of the klon centaur which is a very cheap copy. People are curious about them because for the price they are really really, close sounding if not hard to tell on a recording.

If you google: wish klon centaur you will see them and also on youtube people trying them out.

I can only dream of having a real one too but they are super expensive! Good luck in your search!!

Having owned two original Klons at once, a Silver Horsey and a Gold, you honestly aren't missing much if you already own a KTR.

A/ the originals aren't exactly consistent as potentiometers are rarely ever the same sweep and B/ just about every decent clone is essentially the same as the hyped originals. Especially, Bill's one.

Good luck with your quest though!

I've been using this one for a good few years and it's on the money, plus it is more board friendly and uses a Boss style power socket, so win/win. The KTR pedals I've tried do the Klon thing perfectly as well.

Well, I’ve just ordered one of these to compare to my other Klone. £29 inc delivery. I don’t understand why they are so cheap?

Because that's roughly the price a few bits old old tech in a tin should cost.

An exploited workforce and the cheapest parts available, most likely.

Assuming the KTR is very close, and from what I can tell from you vid A/B comparisons it seems virtually indistinguishable, if you are not even using the KTR, then I'm a little puzzled as to why you think an original will magically transport your tone?

In the recent thread on underrated pedal brands, the dirt cheap Behringer Vintage Tube Overdrive TO800 was identical to an Ibanez TS808 except the Behringer was actually preferred by most as it could go a little brighter.

If you liked and used the KTR but just fancied the real thing, I can kind of understand it, but remain puzzled if you are not even using the KTR.

Why can't he just buy one because he wants one?

    100% this

Dude it asking for a pedal for his own reasons

None of us need that 6th reverb/delay, but we want it!

For me, sometimes just owning certain gear is a pleasure in itself...

I love my Chase Bliss CXM - the ownership and feel of it is a big part of the pleasure.

If you want an original Klon, why not ?

All part of the fun =)

At the very least it’s an investment piece. Before I knew what Klons were, a forumite several years ago (either here or on Musicradar) offered an original gold one for £500. I laughed, thinking how could any pedal be worth that much money. But now ... well I needn’t say any more.

@Voxman - those here who have pedals you don’t use,  raise your hand! ....and to be more specific to your question...I am using a Jan Ray which suits me better, for “Klon” sounds purposes.
    @Wazmeister, @joeyowen, @beed84, @Slimbert - cheers for making my case!

Sure, I completely get that. But I was working on the premise that if @johnmontana ; didn't like the KTR or if he was already using something else that suited him better, then why buy an original Klon? As Mr Spock would say 'it's illogical, captain".  :)

But if he just "wants one" then of course it's his choice and I take the point it could be considered an investment.

    Guilty M’lud.

I currently have eight amps and I’m not even currently in a band! I also have more pedals which are NOT on the board than are. I just like nice gear and enjoy owning it and just using it at home at the moment.

If you want an original Klon, then track one down, it doesn’t appear that you will lose any money!
