WTB: Tele bridge pickup to compete with neck p90

As above. Looking for something more beefy for the bridge of my Tele as my neck p90 overpowers it... Needs to be traditional Tele mount and size but can be humbucker or single coil.

Cheers!

Knowing the DC resistance and bar magnet formulation specs of the P90 would help when suggesting a bridge position pickup that will balance nicely for output.

How fussed are you about retaining a traditional bright Tele voice, as distinct from the darker Broadcaster or, say, a Rails humbucker?
    Be seeing you.

It's a bog standard Wilkinson ceramic. 8.1k. I have a traditional Tele wired up, so no problem if this pickup is something a bit different :-)

  • I think SD quarter pounder would do it.

What value is your volume pot? If it's a 250K, then I would imagine a powerful single coil bridge pickup.

If 500K, then you might be better off with a rails or single coil size humbucker in the bridge...

A DiMarzio Superdistortion Tele would balance the neck P90 nicely, with power to spare...

  • Try a Mexican Fender 10k I think @ICBM had one. It balances pretty good with my p90

Yes, I do. It's the MIM Standard type with a pair of ceramic magnets either side of the poles on the bottom, and measures 10.4K. They're not very popular since they're rather middy by comparison with a vintage Tele pickup, but I think that (and the slightly higher output) would work well here.

£20 posted. I have the pair but happy splitting them.

Consider changing to Alnico bar magnets. A4 or A3 would be my choice.

    quarter pounder
Would you like fries with that?

I recently bought a G&L ASAT Tribute that came with a Creamery sc-sized P90 bridge pickup and an unknown Fender CS neck pickup (Twisted T??). The bridge pickup is very punchy and Tele like but to my ears doesn't sit so well with the neck so I've been thinking of hoiking them both out and getting a set of Alegree Cirrostratus so the bridge pickup could be available. No idea what it's worth but could look into it if you're interested?
