A Shadows type instrumental I wrote

What's Hot

I've tried to write this piece called West Bound in the style of The Shadows. If you like that kind of thing you might like this

  • Loved that.

The piece takes me more towards early 60's cross Atlantic surf, with a respectful nod to Hank. A harder technique and tone to achieve than all the perceived "clever stuff" many players aspire to. Having played guitar for Sir Cliff in the past, the place I occupied on the stage made me feel very very small indeed ( as well as proud ) considering my  younger self listening to Apache over and over through a Dansette valve record player.

Thanks again, you capture it well.

Thanks man, it was a Carl Martin Red Repeat Delay and a Mosky Silver Horse into a Fender HRD.

    Cheers @tone1 appreciate it

@artiebear ; Tell me more about playing for Cliff, that's quite something ?

early to mid 80's off and on @Danny1969, Was never part of the retained core band "Sons of Thunder" but filled in. ( there were all sorts of weird links over the years for me, from touring with Labi Siffre as support act, Labi being managed by Pete Gormley, also Cliff's as well the The Shadows' manager at the time to working with on songwriter demo tracks for CR. A great memory to have and also enough to make anyone give up playing who has had to watch the great John Clark warm up at soundcheck. I will always maintain that the easy stuff in that context has lots of rubato and gain, the scary stuff involved twang and echo where there was nowhere to hide, hence my appreciation of your track.
