This is actually my friend's amp, but I've used it myself (I used to have the big brother).  In my opinion, it's the second best sounding of all iterations - the best was the original blue ones, but they seemed to break if you looked at them funny... These ones have been solid for years :)

It sounds fab - it's the chrome fronted one, but has a replacement grill on it which is more classic in colour.

The valve inside (which *is* actually used in the circuit, and in the POWER AMP section rather than preamp) is a 12AX7 and was replaced with a Mesa Boogie branded one.

These came with a celestion 70/80 speaker. So not even a terrible speaker!

Bargain price - comes with haggle room, too.  £75 collected from Cambridgeshire.  Come on, guys, that's awesome for a backup amp, or practise. If you have a 1x12 or 2x12 cab with a half decent speaker to trade, he might consider that too.

Selling because he wants a small valve amp and cab, he's going for a Jim Root Terror and a HB 2x12 I think, though we are shooting a few amps out tomorrow.

  • Bump and £60 collected.  Hooray for cheapness!

  • Bump because cheap is good. Would buy myself but I just booked a holiday.

  • 55 quid bump - remember it has an attenuator to get it down to 1 watt for the bedroom... ;)

He won't - for this cost, it really isn't worth it for him!

Mostly because he's quite lazy.  ¬_¬ if nothing else comes up, I'll let you know and maybe I can post it for you.  It'll probably add about 20-30 quid to the price though!

  • Man, I had this exact amp. I managed to sell it for about £120. If it was local I'd probably buy it again for £55.

  • Whereabouts in Cambridge are you?

  • They are pretty sweet modellers!

We are near the Huntingdon/St Ives area.  :)

  • If I can wangle a lift to that area to pick it up, i'll definitely take this off your hands.

I've never had a solid-state amp before, is this loud enough to gig with? Small 50-100 person venues?

  • I gigged it, it's plenty loud and of course most venues would mic it up anyway
0reaction image LOL 0reaction image Wow! 0reaction image Wisdom · Share on Twitter
  • Yes, it'll gig I reckon :)

If you can, drop me a PM, I'll let the fella know and worst case scenario, I'll take it and you can pick up from me.  Cash in hand preferred, for obvious reasons, but you'll be allowed to give it a demo to make sure it's working (it is ;) )
