First track, first recording, first mix
What's Hot
In these times of social distancing and no band practice we decided to have go recording one of our original tunes. Obviously everything was recorded separately in various ways!
I too the DI from the back of my amp into a USB Interface straight into DAW; second guitarist went via a Nux Studio Sound; drums are a MIDI kit and the bass was simply recorded into a phone! I used Waveform as the DAW to piece it all together. No EQ on anything other than a top cut on the bass to remove some white noise and a touch of reverb on the drums.
It's pretty rough but we are reasonably happy, I know we'll redo it again most likely with a mic'd acoustic kit and a DI on the bass.
Any comments on arrangement, composition and mix welcome provided they are positive and nice

Also for this kind of heavy track, personally I think the 2 guitars need to be super duper tight, but thats just me.
But....I know it takes some serious work just to get one song complete and up here...so good job !

Both guitars are just panned 70/30 respectively through out apart from the solo where the lead goes central so I'll definitely have a play with that.
I agree with the tightness and timing too. We're just getting started with recording, and don't have that much gig practice either, so just happy to hear you don't think it's awful!
