Acoustic inbuilt tuner problem

sev112sev112 Frets: 2457
after changing strings today, the in built tuner on my Epiphone jumbo was playing up. Then battery light came on so I replaced them.

howver, with new batteries in, i cant get the High e string to register.  All the other 5 strings register, although I sense (possibly erroneously) that the other strings are not sending a string signal either.

the tuner is in the onboard preamp.  How is it tuning ? It must be picking up vibrations somewhere, and I am guessing the piezo under the saddle? I am wondering if the saddle is seated poorly following the string change, and also possibly because I came down from 13 to 12s (and hence possibly less force).  Wondering if the high e string puts the smallest force on the saddle.

ill do some wiggling about tomorrow but just wondered if any experience in this ?

Yes, that sounds likely. What does it sound like through an amp? That should show up a weak top E. (Any clean amp will do if you don't have an acoustic one.)

That’s the point that confuses me - sound through an amp is fine, no difference, so the piezo is picking up the sound ?! Confused :(

In that case it's probably a fault in the preamp. Is it a Shadow?

I've come across quite a lot of problems with those.

Strings off, “piezo” out and re- inserted in bridge, saddle back in straight with a bit of pressure as I put the B and E strings back on, and hey presto, back operating again :)

    happy bunny :)
    cheers
