Anyone sent an acoustic into Europe? Any tips on carriers? Prices? I usually use parcels-to-go but the insurance is a concern

    £70-80 with dhl insured if I recall correctly. Got there in one piece which was the bit that counted.

    I just got a phone quote of £87 for an electric In a case in a box but couldn't get they online. Ended up sending it for over £100 with Parcel Force. Ouch!

    I sold a Taylor T5z lefty electro-acoustic hybrid on eBay to a guy in Vienna about a year ago. I used iPost (DHL UK) and took a small risk because their maximum insurance cover was £1000 (and I sold it for £1200). It cost no more than sending to the UK with their next-day service (under £30 including insurance) - but it took about 4 working days to get there. Tracked all the way through Germany to the Austrian destination.

    UPS, through their website can be £35 for 6 (!) day Transit. £330 for express

    Unless you have your own shipping insurance, the majority of insurance through couriers will cost a fortune and be worthless in the event of a claim. There are so many restrictions and exceptions you might as well use a quality courier, a good case and send uninsured.
