Small acoustic advice needed!

What's Hot
Looking to purchase a small acoustic and don’t even know where to start.

I really I’m after a small body, fairly small neck. Needs to be electro as well and play fine in E Standard.

Don't want to spend a fortune if I can help it, £200-£300 would be ideal.

Any suggestions? Would a travel guitar be suitable like a small Sigma etc?

Thanks!

Should be able to get a used Guild M120e for £300. Hard case, decent pickup and all solid woods. Can't beat that for £300 in my opinion.

How about a Taylor Baby? They do a version with a pickup. Small body and thin neck. It’s a shorter scale than “standard” but plays fine in standard tuning, but not so well, in my view, in dropped tunings.

Second hand Taylor GS Mini. Better than Taylor Baby, IMHO. The GS Mini seems to go in and out of fashion, but mine sounds really good to me, regardless. Maybe they are a little out of fashion at the moment - but of course this means correspondingly better availability and less outlay.

Jay, Ross (Abraham/honeybee) uses one, sure he’d be happy for you to try his and he’s local. Just a thought.

  • As previously mentioned, Guild m120.

Got one myself & love it. Just such a comfortable & playable thing. Handsome too in my opinion. Doubt I’ll ever sell mine

Tanglewood have got a little electro parlour guitar for just under £200, TWR2 PE. And unlike most parlour guitars it has a fairly slim neck, 43mm at the nut.

  • After having had a few smaller acoustics now I don't think I'd go back. The sound isn't as full and your hands have to adapt. But I know that's what you want so I'd say GS Mini.
