@sellisnba The headphones mute the speaker output but the amp needs to have a speaker attached.

That's exactly what Blackstar told me when I asked, although a few places on the web suggest you'd be ok even without a speaker. But in any case, for just a couple of quid you can buy a 10W resistor from Maplins that can serve as a dummy load.
