and promptly gone back in the case - my girlfriend is due round for dinner and I'd get murdered if I sat and played with it rather than her.

Tomorrow may be of limited productivity!

Beautiful mate, HNGD! I'd love to own a Martin but funds just won't allow it. I hope it's everything you hoped for.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

I tried to slap a USB condenser mic in front of it to share just how amazing it sounds but it came out really boomy and unrepresentative so you'll just have to take my word for it :-)

Roughly neck/body join but did try various orientations - it's just a NT-USB on its desk stand so not very precise pointing. Seemed boomy when pointed anywhere at the guitar!

May need to get it closer and turn the gain down dunno

  • Good score Tim, these are great guitars! I always find dreads need a bit of low cut on the eq to tame the boom, it's just the nature of these guitars unless they are in a top notch room

Love a HD28 congratulations on a mighty fine acoustic, i bought one about two years ago, always had shitty acoustic's in the past, played mine and just had to walk out the shop with it and i tried a few that day. Enjoy

I'm in a spare box bedroom with no soft furnishings so that may be part of the problem!

As mentioned by others dreads tend to have a boomy low end when recorded.

HD28...but what version and year? Is it an HD28V with Adirondack top from late 90's/early 2000's? or a newer Authentic D28 1937?

hadn't realised all that stuff wasn't in this thread -  I had a 'going shopping' thread just before posting this one now I remember

    It's a D28 Authentic 1941 model

Nice one, a real high end Martin. The lovely light colour and gloss of the headstock really sets this apart. Pics of back & sides required!

Is it a new one? The frets look fatter than normal Martin stock.

I actually just tried to get some helpful pics of the back and sides but they all end up being reflections of things in my house with a vaguely guitar shaped  outline :-/

Not sure re fret size/shape - but the neck is certainly a bit fuller than the current production regular D/HD necks but not the same as a frankly odd 'modified V' they do

The one on the RIGHT here is the same guitar when I was in the shop - the other one is the same model, year or 2 older. This is a better representation of how dark the back is - the one I didn't buy was unusually (imo) light - but gorgeous for it

The left one looks light like Brazilian rosewood, the one on the right as you say is the more traditional look for a D28/HD28. Did you check the one on the left, was it Brazilian?

Oh...and we can see you, hiding behind the stool in the reflection, you weirdo.
