Takamine NEX Cutaway TK-GN71CE

Hi,

Has anyone any experience of the Takamine NEX Cutaway TK-GN71CE

http://www.takamine.com/GN71CE-NAT

There are lower grade models and one higher but this seems a good compromise with the upgraded preamp

Also is it a lot bigger than the

Thanks

'Less is more' or is it 'more is less?'

    No experience of either model.

Reading the published GN71CE specifications, the solid Spruce top is a good thing. It worries me slightly that Takamine finds it necessary to shroud the details of their transducer technology in mystery.

Their sound hole magnetic pickup is an L.R. Baggs product. Their undersaddle transducer resembles another, earlier L.R. Baggs product. A third transducer looks like a blazen rip-off of the Baggs iBeam with a K&K contact pad thrown in.

The proportions of the GF30CE will probably better suit then intended recipient. The "New Yorker" parlour body size might be better again.

For your budget, I would be inclined to seek out the GY93 and choose your idea of a suitable transducer afterwards.

    Be seeing you.
