Now then,

So, the Fender Champ 12...

It's a 12 watt, 1 x 12 inch speaker 'Made in the USA' Red Knob champ from the 80's. It's a black face, black tolex version. I believe they did some in snakeskin and others in red... They tend to be pretty rare though! I've never even seen another champ in the flesh, never mind one of them! It's got 1 x Power amp tube (6L6) and and 2 x pre amp tubes (12AX7).

The guy that owned it before me upgraded the speaker to a Celestion G12 century which tend to be a pretty good speaker. Most people seem to moan about the original speakers that came in these... although I've never seen/heard an original one!

It's got two channels and has the original foot switch. The cleans are very good (as expected from a Fender). It takes pedals really well and that's mainly how I've used it. The OD channel is LOUD. A lot of people seem to do some sort of mod to make it more useable, I don't think this has been done on mine though. OD channel sounds a little bit ZZ top ish (best way to describe it).

It's got spring reverb on it (which I think sounds pretty good, my reverb knowledge is limited though!). It also had a mid boost which is pretty useful.

The amp is 30 years old so it's not in immaculate condition. The tolex is mostly fine apart from a slight tear on the top right hand and left hand side. The input for the headphone socket has broken off at some point. I got it like this from the last owner. I've never felt the urge to fix it as I have never used headphones with it.  I've photo'd these so you can see. Overall though, the amp is in good condition for it's age.

I've mainly used this amp for practice at home. I have taken it to practice a few times and it has no problems keeping up with drummers and would be fine for smaller venues.

I won't drive the sales pitch, I'm sure you can make your own decisions! I'll be honest and say these amps are a bit 'Marmite'. Some people love them (I'm in this camp) and some people... not so much (usually down to the OD channel).  I wouldn't be getting rid of it unless I absolutely had to but I need a bigger amp for gigging. Needs must and I'm skint :(

So, what have you got?! Will consider most things. I like 12" speakers... err that's about it. I'll probably consider whatever you have.

Based in Harrogate, I can drive and can add cash to the deal.

I'll also entertain the idea of a sale! £200

Pics below & video of the amp (well, me playing a Rory song through the amp Mic'd up pretty poorly!)

    No champ love?

I would like something like a Vox AC15 (probably not what I need though - something 30 or 40 watts would be better like a Traynor!), but will consider anything you have. I can add cash to the right deal.

Or a sale for the bargain price of £200!
