UPDATE - just been doing some research. This has the special edition Jensen ceramic 12" speaker - C12N. That gives it up to 50W capacity. I've searched the internet and can't find another Brown HRD like mine.

This one is rarer than I thought. It's the special edition with a Jensen Ceramic 50w 12" speaker. The cleans are really nice through this.

I had a look to see if there was another brown one for sale anywhere but couldn't see one.

An excellent amp, and a great price for one that looks and seemingly sounds even better than the standard edition. I've loved mine since getting it, very versatile, especially so for home use if you buy a simple volume box for the loop (or use something like a Zoom g3 in the loop with the global volume level low). An amp that seems to crop up as the answer to every other "what amp should I get" thread in the Gear section =]

Well said that man. I use a Dr Z attenuator and the Zoom G5 for certain toons. Here's a review http://en.audiofanzine.com/guitar-combo-amplifier/fender/factory-special-run-series-hot-rod-deluxe-brown-jensen/user_reviews/

I'm now thinking I might just keep it and use the speaker for my H&K head .... or maybe get some stereo effects going by adding it too the set up.

    Utter bargain,

As mentioned above, these amps punch farrr above their price point in my opinion.

I know the seller, played in a band with him, and still meet up for occasional pintages.

He's one of the good guys, and looks after his gear.  So don't have any doubts about the condition, or skimping on packing materials.

@Spikeedog, just for clarity, which series of HRD is this?.

Looks a bargain regardless, IMO !

I don't know the answer to that question but I estimate it is 11 or 12 years old, built like a brick out-house, all in fine fettle, looks old style cool is as loud as anything I've played.

OK It’s here, arrive just as Spikeedog said and I am very happy it sounds so bright and alive. This is my first valve amp.

And I have to post some pictures on how to package a large heavy item ready for postage, and a quick message to John will you pop down here and do my Christmas wrapping for me.

Many thanks from a happy gentleman from Cheltenham.

I am very happy it got to you safely. Don't forget the footswitch in the back? The HRDX sounds great with a strat. Happy diddling.

Actually - re: your offer for me to package your Christmas presents, I do consultancy work so I can come down and advise you how you are doing it all wrong and what it would take to improve your performance - and the charge wouldn't be exorbitant (well not quite).

Good form to the seller for doing such a sterling job with the packaging [I say pulling my hair out because I passed on this because of the courier thing] and good form to the buyer for putting the ARRIVAL pics up.  Nice touch.

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder

    My trading feedback  - I'm a good egg  ;)
