Yeah I know its a long shot, oddball model with reverb, switcheable boost (well more a gain cut really). Alternative is to build a clone.

    I have one of these (1979), been in my hands since 1986 and I had it serviced a couple of years ago.

    Selling? PM me if you are.

    Even if not selling I would be very interested to see any gut shots of it. Are you familiar with mods that Aynsley Lister had done to his? I've had quite a lot of info off Shane Dolman who has worked on both of his and I am lining up a winter project for building two of them (one stock, one to tweak and keep)

    @nezbit, are you just teasing?

  • Apologies @hywelg

    Sorry, life took a strange twist for me in June 2014 and I've only just come across your reply to my post.

    I'm not teasing. Will get you some pics to prove it.

    The amp has never been modded, had it serviced & new valves (still have the originals somewhere), looks like the power switch was replaced at some stage. Also replaced a few missing corners and smashed feet.

    Would love to have a proper go through one of these. I've had a short go through Aynsley's amp but it was only a brief go. His has been modified, it has a 6k6 Musicman output transformer plus some other weird minor mods such as a 300k (ish) anode resistor on v1a I think. Emi Governor speakers knock some of the high end off according to Aynsley.

    I was seriously impressed with how it cleans up on the volume control and the tone is much more Fender due to the tone stack being driven off the anode of v2a

    What you doing next Saturday @nezbit?

  • Not sure what I'm doing on Saturday yet, I'll try and keep it free.

  • There's one of these for sale on eBay at the minute. Aynsleys a friend of mine and lives just in the next village. He has three of these and I picked up the one that is now white for him. Howard smith also a friend in Leicester done the amp work on the white one. They all sound great and a little different.

    I know about the one on eBay. Its a bit dear at £725, is a bit tatty, and I'm half torn between buying one and building one (well 2 actually, if you are going to build and tweak one you need a stock one to compare it with). Would very much like to try one properly first though.

    Still... @hywelg

    There is not many of these amps about. Always been after one at the right price. Don't blame him if he doesn't want to sell though, great amps!

    This one didn't have the mods done to it when this was shot, but I've done them since.

    All three sound different to each other. We're doing a signature model based off these, he's testing the protoype at the moment.

    They're custom wound to match the Schumacher in his old black 2144. Nothing available off the shelf is the correct spec.
